    With a scale on the lower sheet showing a "Scale of 5000 Feet", a "Scale of One Mile" and a "Scale of Yards".
    The title appears in a decorative surround at lower left with a list of references (a-z and 1-10).
    The imprint of "Jefferys & Faden" is given to the right of the title cartouche, above the inset view.
    An inset view "A South West View of the City of New York, Taken from the Governours Island at *"is shown across the bottom of the map. The source for the view was a watercolour by Captain-Lieutenant Thomas Davies, dated 1760 - Cohen and Augustyn.
    A large dedication appears at upper left; "To His Excellency Sir Henry Moore, Bar:t Captain General and Governour in Chief, In and Over His Majesty's Province of NEW YORK and the Territories depending thereon in America Chancellor and Vice Admiral of the same. This Plan of the City of New York and its Environs, survey'd and Laid down: Is most Humbly Dedicated by His Excellency's Most Obed.t Humble Servant, B. Ratzer Lieut.t in his Majesty's 60th or Royal American Reg.t".
    The dedication includes the imprint "Thos. Kitchin Sculpt. Engraver to His Late Royal Highness the Duke of York, &c".
    The second state of the map dated 1776 with the imprint of Faden and Jefferys. The first (undated, but about 1770) state (for an example see Maps K.Top.121.36.b.) lacks the imprint of Faden and Jefferys - Cohen and Augustyn. The King's Topographical Collection includes an additional copy of this second state with original hand colour (bound in Maps 1.Tab.44.).

    Copy note: Copy at Maps K.Top.121.36.a. (sheets 1 and 2) comprises two separate sheets laid on linen and bound in a green-spined guard volume. The sheets are trimmed close lacking platemarks and, presumably, the imprint of Jefferys and Faden that should appear in the lower margin of the upper sheet. The upper sheet has the oval stamp of the British Museum in yellow at lower left. The verso has the manuscript addition in ink (below the linen) of "New York", "Another copy of this Map a Roll 11 Table" and "CXXI/36-a". A pencil addition (on top of the linen) adds "Sheet 1". The lower sheet has the oval stamp of the British Museum in yellow at lower left, beneath the title cartouche. The verso has manuscript additions in ink (below the linen) showing "New York" and "CXXI/36-b" - the "b" has been crossed through and a pencil "a" has been added on top of the linen, along with "Sheet 2".
