  • Abstract: Graphical abstractThis work provided a new angle to explain the self-assembly and bulk properties of organic salts/ion surfactant mixtures.AbstractThe formation of wormlike micelles by organic salts/ion surfactanst mixtures with different mixing ratio in aqueous solutions and their rheological properties have been investigated. The variety of viscosity depending on the molar ratio has been explained, which is related to the transformation of micellar conformation. Through calculating the PMF profiles of spherical micelles fusion and the formation of branched micelle, the mechanism for the varying morphologies with different mixing ratios is revealed. In addition, the mechanism of viscosity difference between 16-4-16 and CTAB solutions was elucidated by simulating the uniaxial tension process of worms and calculating the scission energy of worms. Simulation results indicate that the 16-4-16 systems possess the strong ability to resist breaking. Our studies have lighted new views on the understanding of the self-assembly and bulk properties of organic salts/ion surfactant mixtures.
