  • Abstract: The dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) is representative of next generation photovoltaic devices. State-of-the-art DSSCs have been established for two decades. However, the recent application of organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites on nanoparticle Al2O3 film has totally changed the DSSC structure, leading to a new type of solar cell - meso-superstructured solar cells (MSSCs) with a high power conversion efficiency exceeding 12%. This article summarizes this impressive progress and discusses the challenges of MSSCs.
