  • Abstract: This article presents a reflective case-study analysis of an attempt to improve the teaching effectiveness of and enhance students' learning of a tourism postgraduate research methods module. Based on a qualitative approach and using constructive learning theories, this article explores challenges in research methods teaching and introduces several new approaches. The research findings suggested that the design, delivery, and assessment of a research methods module should address the multidisciplinary features of tourism study and the role of team teaching. Formative function of assessment should be strengthened to promote reflective learning and teaching and also constructive alignment.
